Why not ask the Professionals?

If you've been reading this website you'll know that over the past year or so there has been a plethora of 'strategic' conferences, meetings, forums and talks about what people with a sight loss want. We know you are very busy and cannot always attend these gatherings so we've decided to approach the problem in a carbon neutral way...no need to travel anywhere, no need to burn extra energy by lighting conference halls, no need to generate all that hot air!

Forget about how much it costs or who will do it, let's think 'outside the box' and maybe it'll make a difference.

We want you to send us an e-mail stating TWO things you think will make the most difference to your clients lives.

We don't want to steal your thunder - let your juices flow - it can be anything.

Remember, it must benefit all your clients, not just one or two.

e-mail info@rehabworker.co.uk with 'best' in the subject line

We'll correlate the responses and publish them for the world to see - this is your opportunity to make a difference!

It's very interesting observing the political scene within our field of work. We often wonder who gets most out of the services provided - the clients or the staff? The charities or the people? There are hundreds of charities and voluntary agencies for 'the blind' - including the wealthy ones such as Guidedogs and the RNIB to name but two - and these all have some very well paid employees. These employees enjoy salaries, pensions and in some cases benefits such as free or subsidised meals and/or accommodation. Cars, expense allowances, status in the community, valuable additions to the CV - all of these benefits can be gained. Is this truly charitable?

What if all this money was put in a 'central pot' and governed by one all singing all dancing organisation - not government I hasten to add - I wonder if it would improve matters for the people they all claim to 'serve'?

Your thoughts...
